Beer Board

I wanted to post some information semi-related to the beer board meeting we had last night. The meeting has been temporarily recessed, not concluded, so I don’t want to go into specific details on a meeting that’s not official, just on hold.
A public notice was put out that the beer board was to consider taking [...]

This is the Song That Never Ends …

Want more retail in LaVergne.  Want to keep our money local.  Drive to other towns for retail.  City says better infrastructure needed to do this.
City officials are pushing to attract businesses. They took a first step this winter when they struck a deal to build a new $20 million retail center on Industrial Boulevard north [...]

Mr. Montgomery

I didn’t know Mr. Montgomery since I’m a johnny-come-lately to LaVergne (five years in June).  However, reading about his life, he must’ve been an amazing, kind person.  Here’s some of what he accomplished on behalf of LaVergne.
Montgomery was a charter member of the La Vergne Lions and Men’s clubs. The Men’s Club was the city’s leadership [...]

Hey LaVergne - Here’s a Huge Opportunity for You

It looks like the county school system is thinking about selling the land by the new schools (the new LaVergne Middle and the LaVergne Lake Elementary) where they had originally planned to build a new high school.  Now we all know that a certain developer has probably already jumped to the head of the line to [...]

Motivating Conversation

I sent an email to our mayor and Aldermen a couple of days ago, and just recently got off the phone with Alderman Waldron who called back to discuss my ideas. I wanted to share some bits of our conversation here.
The first thing I would like to say is that we are being heard! Waldron [...]

Scary Road, Scary Experience

I hadn’t read my friend Chip’s blog today, but found his post through Music City Bloggers.  You may know that he’s only the best school bus driver in LaVergne (okay, we have a lot of good ones but since he’s my friend I’m going to say his the best!).  Chip had a close-call today:
As I [...]

Shoppes of LaVergne: It’s Official!

LaVergne Lands $20M Retail Center from the Daily News Journal.
Joy!  Okay, here’s what I want (as if!) in my perfect shopping center.

Bookstore

Craft store with work stations (like ceramics, toll painting, etc.)

JoAnn’s or Hancock’s fabric store

Indian restaurant

Music store (do these even exist anymore since CD’s are going the way of vinyl, cassettes, and 8-tracks?)

Discovery or National Geographic [...]

No News is Good News?

Not much newsworthy going on right now, so I thought maybe I could dig something up. Checking out the list of ordinances past in LV this year, I came across 92 acres in West La Vergne near Nolensville that was rezoned for ‘planned density residential?’ What is that? It also says this is to be a [...]

Murfreesboro Stops Yard Parking

Wow… I can’t imagine the uproar this would cause if passed in LaVergne.  Murfreesboro has banned LONG TERM parking in yards.  In the ‘Boro, if company comes over cars may temporarily be parked during the event, but no yard parking at other times.  This article in the DNJ covers the story and is an interesting read.
In [...]

Open Letter to Kroger

Dear Kroger Powers That Be,
There’s a little rumor flying around our town of LaVergne (population 27,000′ish) that you’ve expressed interest in an empty storefront.  We want you to know how badly the residents of our city want you here.  You with your in-house pharmacy, bakery, flower shoppe, deli, and meat counter would be a perfect [...]
