Found the Meeting Dates!

In reference to the post down below, I finally clickedon the Citizens Update newsletter in the left hand column.  On page 5 was the schedule that meetings would be televised on channel 3.  It also contained when the meetings were taped, so here goes:

Board of Mayor & Aldermen (7 p.m. the first Tuesday of the month)

Planning Commission (6:15 p.m. the second Tuesday of the month)

Board of Zoning Appeals (5:15 p.m. the second Tuesday of the month)

Parks & Recreation Advisory Committee (6 p.m. the third Monday of the month)

Greenway Advisory Committee (7 p.m. the third Monday of every other month, beginning in January)

OH WAIT!  On page 13, I found this:

  1. So….are all theses meetings and “workshops” open for public viewing and/or participation?

  2. Isn’t it state and/or federal law that all meetings be open? In fact, I’ve recently been reading about how – in another town – some local officials got in hot water because when they met for coffee and/or breakfast every day they talked about city business. When decisions are made and city business is discussed by more than two people (I think?!) it’s a meeting and violates open meeting laws. Not positive… I’ll explore that.

  3. Yes, all of these meetings are open to the public, although I’m not sure every meeting is open for public comments.

I thought the tennessean story was great in that it didn’t flat out say La Vergne had developed the worst of any of the other cities.

I agree 100% – NO MORE R3 HIGH DENSITY ZONING!

It’s ok to have starter homes and affordable homes, but we now have enough of those. Now it’s time to start catering to a wealthier clinetel. If you haven’t driven down Waldron road on the west side of I-24, you should, you would be in for a treat. The houses going up over there should be the blueprints for future La Vergne delvelopement.

  4. I just re-read my comment above and had to laugh and/or feel dim about how often I said and/or. Heh.

  5. And don’t forget the 2nd “special meeting” about doing away with the BOZA board & giving it to the mayor’s planning commission — he can put anyone he wants to on the PC without the other board members voting on it & take off anyone he wants. The meeting is at 5:00 Tue. — 11/27 (That way those who work until 5:00 can’t get there, you think???). Hard to fill the board room when it appears these meetings are scheduled to prevent citizens from attending. Would be great if the room was filled — they do behave a little differently when they actually have the folks who live here looking at them — most would like to be re-elected!
