Some Quickies for a Saturday

I am staring down the April 30th deadline for first-time home-buyers to be under contract in order to get the $8000 tax credit from the Feds, and suddenly I’m swamped with buyers.  So with apologies for such a quick post here, I did want to share some of the recent information sent by the city.  Next week I’m introducing another person of our community on the “We are LaVergne” … look forward to hearing about how this person has made a difference in the lives of many young adults.

What Would You Do With $11.8 Million?

After two budget workshops by the La Vergne Board of Mayor and Aldermen, Mayor Ronnie Erwin is happy to report the the budget is finalized.

“Right now, we’re $31,000 to the good,” he announced Thursday. “And that’s with the insurance going up, a three percent raise for employees and the non-profit donations.”

The budget workshops are completed. The completed budget, set at $11,834,000, will be submitted to the Board for their approval in May and June. It takes two votes by the Board to pass a budget. A workshop will be held at the June 1 meeting.

Once approved, the budget will take effect July 1, 2010.  For more information, contact Mayor Erwin at 394-2821.

Meanwhile, if you’re thinking about making the deadline to buy a home, don’t forget about my listings… look at the videos on the right hand side to see 281 Bill Stewart Blvd. ($129,900) and 5137 Morningwood Dr. in Cane Ridge ($246,900).   Also, a friend of mine has 1714 Jimmy Cove ($149,900) that is perfect with over 2000 square feet and in beautiful condition!

  1. The general fund budget is 11.8 million. What is the water and sewer budget?? Somebody told me that it was 2 million in the hole. How are they going to make that up?

  2. blah blah,

the water dept is 1.2 million in the red and this is the second year for this dept being in the red which could mean the state comptrollers office could come in and take this dept over.

The rock quarry doesnt even have an account set up and has had no water bills sent to them. in one day they used 16,100 gallons so take that and times that by 30 days a month and see how much gallons they have used.

I have stated before that there is so much going on with this dept and people have told me ” you dont work here 40 hours a week and have only one side of the story so you better be careful for it will bite you on your fanny” I do know some things and just cant say them for legal issues until it becomes public.

I have spent alot of this week looking at meeting notes and online tax records for those in office and it really sursprises me to see what some have paid.

just keep watching this blog for you will see what really comes to light in the next few weeks!!!

if they would charge the rock quarry for past bills then some of this would make a difference!

  3. Mark,
I am anxious to see what comes to light as well.

    Attention All Elected Officials —
Ronnie, Jerry, Sherry, Dennis and Senna: Can any of you explain why you let this happen?

I’m sure everyone deserves to hear the reason. Otherwise, let’s all start a movement to get everyone of the current elected officials coming up for election this year OUT OF OFFICE — let’s give them the BOOT!

    We need NEW BLOOD!!

PS: I’m still trying to figure out the name of the gentleman I heard can get it done!

    • Longtime
The last time I heard from him he had changed his name to LC and was going to building a bridge.

  4. Stirring things up under a pseudonym strikes me as insincere. IP address matches are always very enlightening.

  5. IP addresses are interesting. They tell you where people are from. You can basically tell who they are. I am so glad you know who this one person is.

  6. Long time fan, if you would use your own name when addressing the blog, people would have more to say to you. You continue to use surnames trying to get someone to mention your name and playing games with the public. If you want to run for Mayor run. I have addressed questions concerning the happenings of the last few weeks. I was the one out in the weeds looking for the meter. Did not see you. I attend ALL the meetings. Don’t see you. I was out in the rain yesterday trying to help the citizens with flood issues. Didn’t see you. I am out at all hours of the day and night at fires, wrecks, stand offs, water breaks, and sewer breaks in the hot and cold. I don’t see you. It is hard to get the job done when you don’t have a clue what is going on. Don’t continue to treat people as if they are stupid. Just stand up and say what you have to say. If you won’t do it now, what is to make us think you will if you are elected?

  7. I second that, Senna. EVERYONE surely sees that you are the one person within the city that shows up when there is anything going on — didn’t see any of the rest of the “elected officials” out this past weekend cleaning up the mess . . . or even showing up. Thank you for your dedication! You don’t do “lip service”, you do what you were elected to do & more.

  8. I must say I do see Senna out doing things for the citizens of Lavergne on a regular basis. I honestly believe it is because she cares. The question I must ask is where are the other elected officials why are they not out helping with things. Long time fan I personally do not know who you are, but if you would just go ahead and put your real name on here then we may actually be able to say we saw you out doing something for the community. As noted by Senna though if you are not willing to admit who you are on here how do you expect to gain the respect of anyone in the city to be elected? I told all about who I am in a previous post and of my intentions to run for alderman. For anyone who did not get to read it my email is chris-farmer@comcast.net. I will answer questions to the best of my knowledge. I will also use my real name on all of my postings!
