Call 355-3000 for Assistance

From an email via the city, if you want to receive emergency assistance, but are nervous about being scammed, the CORRECT number to call is 355-3000.

If you call, you will be directed to the Police Department which in turn transfers to the Civic Auditorium, where Box 100 has set up a location for those who need help and those who wish to donate.

Angie Mayes also said, “People need to start stopping by the Civic to pick up items. They are going to have to close shop on Friday because we have rentals in the building, beginning on Saturday. The faster people stop by the better. The building is packed with items (clothing, household supplies, etc.). I don’t want these things to go to waste.”

Finally, there’s a flood video “floating” around on Youtube according to the Ms. Mayes and the mayor that has some information about getting help under “LaVergne flooding.” I looked, but didn’t see anything. If anyone else finds it, please comment and we’ll link to it.

By the way, the signs with THAT number are the ones I was worried about before!  Glad to know it’s okay to call the numbers!!

  1. Thanks for that. I noticed one of those signs yesterday and the first thing I thought was “Oh look, the scammers have arrived.”

Glad to see I was wrong.

  2. Really Mayor Erwin? The video’s just “floating” out there on YouTube? the gang at city hall can’t even figure out how to send us a link to it?

    REALLY??!!

  3. WE ARE NOT CLOSING THE CIVIC AUDITORIUM ON FRIDAY. People can still come by and get the items they need. We will be set up in tractor trailors outside in the side yard. That is what we were told tonight at our BOX 100 meeting. We do have to remove the items from the building due to people having graduation parties at this site. Robin Grubb has been very helpful and has dicussed our options. The families that have rented the Civic has already sent out invitations and we feel that their Seniors need their special time, so Box got busy and got tractor trailors donated so our flood victims did not have to search for us at a new location. If any of this information changes I will inform this site. THE PEOPLE OF LA VERGNE ARE THE GREATEST EVER!!!!! The last week has been very humbling. The out pour of love and concern from this community has been over whelming. I am very thankful to live in a place that is so caring. Yes, we have our issues but when the chips are down our citizens come thru. GOD BLESS all of you. I haven’t had much computer time, but I just wanted to say THANK YOU to all who helped the flood victims. I have not forgotten all of you, so please if you have questions give me a little time to answer.

  4. Sorry Senna — I was told (don’t ask by whom) that you would be out of there on Friday. Thanks for understaning about the graduation rentals…kinda can’t cancel them!

You all have done a wonderful job with this while process. I just wanted people to know that you wouldn’t be inside the building on Saturday or Sunday.

We’re not allowed to have youtube at work, so here’s some of what I foung at home:
