we really enjoy it! we have been there early, and been there right before closing. sometimes things are not full but if you ask they will make it happen. we love the price. the creamy cocnut shrimp is delish! the only complaint we have is that the sushi vriety is lacking…that was about the only thing we enjoyed about the last place that was there. we love sushi and there really isnt a place in lavergne to get it…have to go to antioch or smyrna. we love our town and the access that is easy for riding bicycles.
I always try to spend my momey in Lavergne and give all rest. a try and go from there, I had there food the other night and on a scale from 1 to 10 I would give it a 71/2 somethings were better than others, BUT it was much better than that last ****hole that was there, I will go back when the mood strikes me and the price is OUTSTANDING!!!!!!!!!!
Good news, it’s only $5.98. Bad news, you get what you pay for. I checked it out this evening on my way home and regret the decision. Unattractive selection of lukewarm food. The egg drop soup was watered down and tasteless. Very poor selection. The new owner/manager was there. He was dressed in baggy pants, a t shirt and wearing his coat and hat walking around stirring the different food selections, walking around eating a plate of food. It was just disturbing. I’ll skip this place and stick with the GREAT takeout from Fortune Express
What I find funny is it’s the same set of families that owns and runs the place. I’ve seen people there working that were from the first time i went there about six years ago. Are they still using the Big Apple’s plates?
I suspect, just like last time, it’ll be good for a few weeks to build up reputation, and the place will be packed. Then it’ll start to fall off on service, close, and reopen to another rousing success story of a grand opening.
JH~ you hit it on the head!! That is the exact observation/opinion I have… same van pulls up in front and unloads like a clown car at a circus.
I do ALWAYS try to keep my money staying in LaVergne so my husband & I make it a point to give a place at least 2 chances since every restraunt has an occasional bad day but with this being the 4th or 5th time (I have lost count) they have closed and then reopened under a new name/look, this time I just CANT do it!!
Here is my vote: Close it down permanently as an Asian Buffet and reopen as an American Buffet similar to Golden Corral/Shoneys only less expensive/fancy and make sure it is OPEN for Breakfast!!! I bet it would TOTALLY be a hit and would stay open for a long time!!
Never tried the first one or this one…had always heard some rather bad things about both restaurants.
I do agree with shutting down and opening a Golden Corral….they usually have a really good selection….and I think La Vergne needs this type of restaurant…I try to spend my money in La Vergne but sometimes venture to Sam Ridley Blvd….
I went there when they were New Apple Buffet and was not impressed at all. I went for lunch today and a couple days ago. Now known as New East Buffet. It was worth 5.98, I noticed when it is busy the food is fresh and hot (obviously), a decent selection of foods, the customer service was good, they were at our table asking for refills constantly, and the quality was good, but the fried rice could improve. When no one is there they don’t quite keep things fresh and hot. But what do you expect..you get what you pay for…but for 5.98 I’m happy with the food and service I got. What I’m not happy about is that I just opened my on-line banking and they charged me twice..and can find the new number anywhere..
