Just wanted to let you know about the “Chad Bowman Memorial Benefit Chili Dinner”. If you remember Chad was the city employee who died from injuries from a motorcycle accident last month. The dinner is set for November 22nd from 4 till 8 pm. It is at La Vergne High School and is $5.00 per person. There will be a silent auction and baked goods for sale also. Just thought your readers might want to help the family out is some way.

What can be done about neighbors that don’t keep up with their property? The zoning dept can’t do anything about it, they say. We need to help keep LaVergne beautiful. What can be done to promot this?
Possibly the Lavergne Alderman can start a beautification committee and encourage local businesses and homeowners to improve their places, possibly Lowes or Home Depot would donate a $50 gift card to the monthkly winner and mayor Erwin could announce the winner at their meeting, a little PR for a local business shoudl motivate them to participate. Just a thought.
Please dont forget the LHS Choir Chili Concert tomorrow, November 7th at 6pm. The students will be showcasing individual pieces along with the entire Choralier and Concert Choir ensembles performing. Entry is $5.00 per person or $20 for family payable in cash at the door.

My husband’s 4 wheeler was stolen out of our yard this past week. The trailer was found on Mason Dr and neighbors reported seeing a red pickup truck dropping it off. If any of you saw anything, or might possibly know anything about this, please respond here and I will get in touch with you.
Rutherford County is holding it’s Household Hazardous Waste collection Saturday, November 15th, at Blackman High School in Murfreesboro. I have seen conflicting postings about the collection times, but I called the contact listed and she confirmed 8 a.m to 2 p.m. She also warned not to wait until the last minute. I can second that because I showed up a few minutes before the collection time ended last year and they turned me away!
This may be the only collection for a year as they canceled the spring collection earlier this year to save money, so don’t miss this opportunity to safely dispose of any hazardous items you may have around your home.

I’ve seen several comments on the blog talking about promoting the arts. Lamplighters Theatre is presenting It’s A Wonderful Life Radio Production Dec 4-7 and Dec 11-14. They are located at Smyrna Assembly on Old Nashville Hwy, right next to CVS. Tickets are $10 adults, $8 students and $5 children 4-12.
If you like live theatre, this is the place to check out good local talent.

In October, My family and I went to see Lamplighters production of The Music Man expecting to see a “local…amature…not so perfect” attempt at a great Musical only to be BLOWN away by the level of talent this group has!!
We are from Las Vegas and have seen TONS of professional productions but this one absolutely elated us with the quality of the actors, singers, sets, music, and professionalism of these people.
GO if you have never been before!!! You WILL NOT regret it!!

Does anyone know if La Vergne has a police blotter? I was thinking the other day that most cities have a local newspaper that lists a police blotter. Since apparently we aren’t a large enough city for our own newspaper, no police blotter?
I’m just curious because people are always posting things on this site about shotings, explosions, and other things that are never reported in the media. It would be nice to have actual facts and not rely on some anonymous blogger.

As for my current occupation as a restaurant consultant, I should probably clarify that a bit…
I began working for the Harpeth Grill in Brentwood in August of 2008 as their webmaster and internet marketing adviser. At the time, I was trying to get a web design business off the ground, but when the economy slowed down; I realized that I was going to need something a little more secure to supplement my income. It was then that I went to work for HG in a more traditional sense. Fast forward to the present, and I’ve basically become a full-time $10/hr line cook/expediter.
I’ve been in and out of the restaurant industry since I was 16, and for better or worse (now that I’m 33), it’s what I know best. After I graduated from MTSU in 2005 with a BS in Political Science, I jumped immediately into corporate restaurant operations management. I spent a little over three years in that capacity before deciding to take a chance on the web design thing.
Right now, I’m actually looking for another job. When I signed on with the Harpeth Grill, it was under temporary pretenses. The owner and I have a good relationship, but he simply cannot afford to pay me what I need to make in order to sustain the quality of life that my previous salaried positions provided. I’ve had a great time working once again within an independently-owned restaurant. It’s renewed my zeal and passion for the food service biz. However, at this point in time, I’m more than willing to broaden my horizons and consider any other opportunities out there that may currently be available.
You probably got a lot more than you bargained for with my little rant there, but I truly enjoy meeting new people and networking. Hey, everyone . . . I’m in desperate need of a top-notch insurance agent. I’m about to be caught between COBRA expiration and Medicare qualification, so I need to find a short-term health insurance policy to bridge the gap. I don’t know what the deal is/was (I guess they’re all franchised?), but I grew up in Indianapolis and the Dennys there were always top-notch. Moved to New Orleans and Dennys were all gross – most closed down many, many years ago. The ones in Nashville weren’t much better, yet the ones in Florida are very popular and still quite good. I miss the good ones! :(

If you’re looking for something different to do this Saturday, please consider attending SpotLite Dance Studio’s Third Annual Competition Team Showcase. This is a fundraiser put on by the studio’s team to help defray their competition costs. SpotLite is in Smyrna and about 95% of the students are from Rutherford County. The team’s dancers range from kindergarten up through high school and will be performing jazz, lyrical, modern and hip-hop solos, duos, trios and group numbers. This is an amazingly talented group of kids and they could really use your support . . . the economy has hit us dance parents, too! There will also be a raffle with some great prizes.
The shows are at 1:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. this Saturday, February 21st, at Blackman Middle School. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the door. Ticket sales are allocated to each dancer and if you don’t know any of the kids participating, the money will just be deposited in a general fund and equally divided among the team members.
I promise you, it will be a wonderful show, and who knows . . . it might even get your own kids interested in studying dance, whether or not they want to participate at the competition level!

Being in real estate I wanted your opinion on something. I am a resident of the Woodsong subdivision. The landowner behind the neighborhood on Blair Rd. has submitted for rezoning of 8 acres of his land to Light Industrial to put up a self-storage place.
My initial reaction is this is not what I want down the street from our neighborhood, but what are your thoughts?

Chances are good that it could be rezoned. However, when people in a neighborhood stand up and voice their opinions and objections, I’ve seen these zoning proposals defeated. If you can make the point that the zoning of light industrial will make your house lose value – and again if you can rally the neighbors to call or go to the meeting – then you’d have a good chance of defeating the attempt. A public hearing will also be held that night at 6:30p.m. or 6:45 p.m. I am sorry but I get citizens comments and public hearing times backwards. There is a group of people breeding pit bulls on Heritage circle east just off Fergus road. These dogs get out all the time and are dangerous! I have not been bitten yet but they chase me out of my own yard, trap me in my car and confront me. I have called the police three times and they cannot seem to do anything unless someone is actually gets hurt. It seems that I am on my own so i’ll need to buy a gun to protect my family in my own yard. There should be laws to limit breeding dangerous animals in a residential area that housed many small children.
Concerned Citizen, I am not sure if anything can be done, but I would encourage you to contact Senna Mosely (her number is above your post). I have called Animal control before regarding a lose dog. They said there are two problems they usually have. 1 – Animal control has to show up while the dogs are lose, and 2 – you have to be willing to testify against the dog owners if a citation is issued. Everyone wants to remain annonymous and unfortuantely if there is no accuser, then usually the defendent walks.
In my situation it was a dog roaming lose, animal control contacted the homeowner, and that solved the problem (no citation issued because there have been no further complaints). It might just take an animal control officer knocking on your neighbors door for them to decide to control their animals.

Regarding the post above, #2 must be a new procedure. My one and only experience with Animal Control was very positive. About two years ago, my 90-lb. lab decided to play escape artist and somehow managed to wriggle out of his collar while my daughter was walking him on a leash. I do understand that it’s my responsibility to keep my dog under control, but he’s very gentle and loves kids, other dogs and even cats. Everyone in our immediate neighborhood knows him and where he lives. Someone did call Animal Control and about 15 minutes later, they pulled up to my house with my dang dog riding in the front seat and looking quite happy with himself.
The Animal Control lady was nice as can be, but did specifically tell me that we would automatically be fined $50, even if the person who called it in chose to remain anonymous.
Needless to say, I immediately went out and bought a different kind of collar that he can’t get out of!
I think the reason there was a fine in your situation is because Animal Control came and found the dog while he was loose. If your neighbors were always calling and complining but animal control never found your dog loose, they couldn’t fine you unless you were given a chance to defend yourself to the accusers. In your case, animal control was the accuser.

Michael . . . I’m sorry, when I re-read it, my post wasn’t really clear. We weren’t fined since it was a first offense and my dog didn’t hurt anyone, but the $50 fine will be automatic next time, even if the caller doesn’t want to come forward. Now you’ve got me curious as to their exact regulations to fine someone, but I don’t want to find out the hard way!
We have several dogs that occasionally run loose in our neighborhood, but I know them all and have never worried about it, except for them possibly being hit by a car.
Sherry, no problem. I was just thinking aloud the reason you would have been fined with no accuser, it makes sense. When you get pulled over for speeding, the police are your accuser. When the “dog police” find your dog, it would make sense they could fine you.
I found the link to the Rutherford County Animal regulations. I don’t know ithink La Vergne has any specific regulations; I would guess not since we don’t have any enforcement at the city level.

Is there an ordinance in Lavergne about constantly barking dogs? I have left numerous notes on a nieghbors door about their dogs barking all the time. They promise to do better but never due. Last weekend they put them out while they had a party and they barked for 7 hours straight, 7:00pm-2:00am. The husband is not someone I’m comfortable confronting in person and I’m afraid of retalliation. Although other neighbors agree, no one else complains. Any advice on how to handle this? It’s been going on for years.

Pets. The keeping of any animal, bird, or fowl which by
causing frequent or long continued noise shall disturb the comfort or repose of any person in the vicinity.

I’m looking for recommendations for a safe, reliable drop-in day care or babysitter in the area for my 13 month old. I am a work-at-home mother but I need to go to the office at least one morning a week. She will only need care for about three hours once or twice a week.

The LaVergne library used to accept donations of both books and VHS tapes. I don’t know of anywhere that gives you a credit. There used to be a place like that in Franklin years ago, but it’s long gone.
McKay’s Used Books in Nashville lets you trade-in old books, DVDs, video games, and some electronics for cash or credit towards the same.

Has anyone heard about this new thing with registering your child for school? We lived in LaVergne and we just recently moved to Smyrna. I went to the new school about registration and was told that I would have to prove that I had paid the wheel tax on my car. The school said that alot of people have not renewed their tags on the cars and that the schools did not get their full budget and now you have to prove you paid. That was all the info they gave. I ran into a former school teacher and she said she didn’t know anything about it. Anybody know anything?
Yes, this has been in the news about a lot of people paying wheel taxes in other counties where they are lower, but still sending their kids to school here. Rutherford does have one of the higest wheel taxes, but I believe half of the wheel tax money goes to schools, so that’s why they are enforcing it now.
I talked more with the school as I was registering my daughter. I understand where they are coming from. Kids can still register and go to school but for the ones with issues with their tags, they will send that info onto the county attorney and they will decide where to go from there.
on another note, i went out to dinner tonight and happened to look at car tags and noticed that a car had tags that expired a year ago but yet they can afford to eat out. sounds like somebody has got their priorities mixed up.
I was reading through some of the minutes of June’s Mayor and Alderman meeting and come across a couple of interesting notes.
– There is an ordinance granting Smyrna the right to provide Natural Gas to the City of La Vergne. My question is why is this just now being discussed? I’ve lived in my home for 4 years and had natural gas from Smyrna. While my property literally borders Smyrna city limits, it makes me wonder is La Vergne wanting to provide Natural gas to the whole city? Or are they looking to charge me more simply for the “privelege” of getting natural gas in La Vergne?
– Am I the only one who avoids the intersection of M’Boro road and Stones river road on Saturdays because of all the charities asking for money? The board approved 2 more. I am in favor of supporting charities, but I never just give someone money without looking into what their doing.

I just now ran across this post. Your second paragraph confuses me, though. What do you mean about “LaVergne wanting to provide natural gas to the whole city?” We’ve been here since 1987 and always had natural gas from Smyrna. Or are you talking about parts of LaVergne that don’t have natural gas at all?

Yes, that’s correct, La Vergne residents who do have natural gas have been getting it from Smyrna for awhile now. However, much of the city (LFE) does not have acess to natural gas. Is the city wanting to expand natural gas service? If so, that’s good. However, I’m afraid they are just looking to charge another tax to those of us who buy our natural gas from Smyrna.
We have the gas line that goes right through our front yard, but don’t have natural gas. It’s kind of a bummer to me, too. Gas heat is so nice and toasty!

Another Note – If anyone from the DNJ is reading this, I saw a story awhile back that was talking about how the newspapers that are struggling are those that focus on national news. Local newspapers that focus on local news are thriving. Perhaps if you covered Smyrna and La Vergne a bit more, I would subscribe. I mean, can we not even get a reporter to cover our local M/A meetings? Even the fish wrapper that is thrown in my driveway once a week usually has nothing noteworthy about our city, just ad’s. I really would like to read the morning paper, but right now everything you have to offer is boring or outdated.
i did read that little paper that is thrown in the driveway. i live in smyrna but lived in lavergne for years. it did mention lavergne and about the guy who ran over his wife and stepdaughter. not the most uplifting news but at least he is in custody
I don’t think one story per week is reflective of a community of 26,000 people. They do seem to give equal coverage to LHS, but that’s about it.

There were 5 police cars and an ambulance near holland ridge this afternoon in LFE, they took someone away in handcuffs. I would certainly like the ability to read what happened.
I don’t know that the crime here is any worse than it is anywhere else. Every now and then we will hear about gang activity, but depending on who you talk to you get a different story. I agree it would be nice to have a police blotter, but to the best of my knowledge the city doens’t currently have anything like that.
Does anyone know of a dog park in or around La Vergne?
I believe the closest dog park would be the bark park in Murfreesboro.
I’ve seen several (meaning LOTS) of people who take their dogs to Cane Ridge Park and let their dogs run unleashed inside the softball fields fenced area. I do hope they pick up after their dogs before leaving though.

I buy every UFC PPV, and I know alot of other ppl do as well. I have decided to save us all some money by inviting you over to my house to watch events on my 52inch Samsung LCD TV while sitting comfortably on my leather couches. My home is located just off Murfreesboro rd in Lavergne, TN. We will have a limit of ppl who can come (probably 5-6 ppl), so first come first serve.
We will split the cost of the PPV based on how many ppl show up. The more ppl show up, the cheaper it is for all of us to watch it. Please don’t consider this a “PARTY”. This is just a meeting for fellow MMA fans like myself who don’t want to venture out to a loud smokey bar full of rowdy ppl to get together, make some friends, and watch some UFC at a MAJOR discount. I have 2 small children and a wife, so getting TOO rowdy is not allowed. Smoking can be done out on my deck, and feel free to bring drinks. Kids under certain ages can also be brought. My 2 kids Kayla (3) and Jay III (2) will keep them company. I have a large play room for them to safely play while we watch the event.

I’ve been too . . . same place as Christie, but mine was about 4 years ago. It takes a couple of hours, but actually was really good. I can’t remember who the speaker was, but he was quite entertaining. All in all, a much better alternative to having a ticket on your record!

Something I did learn . . . since it was my very first ticket (ever, surprisingly!), I was told it wouldn’t go on my record if I attended the class. I talked to the officer who did the class about what to say if I was ever questioned about getting a ticket (while changing insurance companies, maybe). Did I say, “Yes, I got a ticket, but it was dropped since I attended traffic school” or “No, I’ve never had a ticket.” He told me you say, “No, I’ve never had a ticket.”
If that’s the case, wouldn’t any ticket down the road be your “first” ticket that you could get dropped? Anybody got an idea? I don’t want to lie, but why admit it if you don’t have to?
I don’t know about that, Sherry. I would think that an insurance company would have the resources to check that sort of thing. But, it’s probably not worth it to them anyways. I suppose the safe answer would be “I don’t recall”. I think you can attend traffic school once a year. I’ve never been to traffic school either. I had two speeding tickets in college over a decade ago. Not knowing any better, I just paid them.

No, the insurance company can only find out about inbformation by asking you, or by reviewing your MVR. In municipalities such as ours, if you go to traffic school then nothing is reported on your MVR.
Also, if you have been with the same insurer for awhile they may not check your MVR for quite some time, but it’s good to keep the MVR as clean as possible in case you decide to switch companies.
Thanks for the info. I was curious because I just switched insurance companies. My old company (who shall remain nameless), TRIPLED my premium when my daughter went from a permit to a license. Needless to say, I was not happy and told them what they could do with their rate increase. :)
The new company only asked about tickets in the last 24 months, though, so my old ticket wasn’t applicable.

FYI…. I am not about causing a small business to loose customers at all but thought I would post an experience that my hubby and I had yesterday at the Taco trailer in front of C & C Market on Murfreesboro Rd next to Merchandise Liquidators.
We stopped at around 3pm … as we have done several times before at the taco stand and placed our order, and proceeded to go inside to pay for it. We have not been there in a while and noticed there have been several changes to the interior of the building. It used to be just a market, but now there is seating and what looks like the beginnings of a permanent kitchen on one side, several computers set up with internet & web cams (one can only imagine why, I suppose)… and then a very small market isle containing products that appear to have been shelved for some time by the amount of dust on them. My husband paid the clerk and was over charged by more than $4 but didnt appear to “understand” my husband when he tried to question it. My husband, being the person he is chose not to “force” the issue so to speak. We went back outside to wait for our food which normally would take no more than 15 mins to prepare on any day, busy or not. There was 1 other family there that gave their order well after us, and yet because of their fluency in the language, received their food plus returned for seconds well before ours was ready. Several others came and went all ordering and receiving food while we sat and waited. Finally after 40 minutes of waiting, my husband approached the trailer/kitchen to ask if there was a problem….. only to find that they were sitting down eating and talking on their cell phones. They told him (he thinks..lol) that it would be ready in a minute. So we waited another 10 minutes. They packaged and gave us our food…TO GO when we never really specified that and never once said anything about how long it had taken. wow. We made our way back to my truck to eat since it was obvious we were not expected to eat inside the market…. Opened our food and found the smallest portions we had EVER seen come from there along with the worst parts of the meat one could find in a taco….Needless to say, my husband is not a very impatient or confrontational man but did deliver it back to the trailer and said with a smile of course….”No, thank you” and walked away. While hearing the laughing chatter from the trailer…. hard not to speculate what that was about.

Thank your lucky stars Tennessee. My wife and I have just recently moved from La Vergne to Boston, and I wanted to let you know that I had no idea how good we had it when it came to taxes in TN. Here’s a breakdown:
MASSACHUSETTS
Sales Taxes
State Sales Tax: 6.25% (food; prescription drugs; fuel costs; gas, oil, electricity; clothing costing up to $175, are exempt). For a complete list, click here.

Diesel Fuel Tax: 23.5 cents/gallon
Cigarette Tax: $2.51/pack of 20
Personal Income Taxes
Tax Rate Range: Flat rate of 5.3% of federal adjusted gross income
Personal Exemptions: Single – $4,400; Married – $8,800;
Dependents – $1,000
Standard Deduction: None
Medical/Dental Deduction: Federal amount
Federal Income Tax Deduction: None
Retirement Income Taxes: Social Security, civil service, state/local government pensions are exempt. Pension income from other state or local governments that do not tax pension income from Massachusetts public employees is exempt from Massachusetts taxable income.

Property Taxes
Massachusetts does not provide for a general homestead exemption but does have a Homestead Act. The Homestead Act permits a homeowner who occupies a house as his/her principal residence to shield up to $500,000 in equity in that house from creditors. By simply filing a Declaration of Homestead with the appropriate Registry of Deeds, a homeowner may be able to protect his/her residence from the claim of a future creditor. The Homestead Act permits only one spouse to file for the equity protection if each has an ownership interest in the home. The protection offered to the disabled and the elderly is even more comprehensive because it allows a husband and wife who own their own home to each file for the $500,000 equity protection. Massachusetts also has a circuit breaker program that offers a real estate tax credit for persons age 65 and older. Certain taxpayers may be eligible to claim a refundable credit on their state income taxes for the real estate taxes paid during the tax year on the residential property they own or rent in Massachusetts that is used as their principal residence. If the credit due the taxpayer exceeds the amount of the total income tax payable for the year by the taxpayer, the excess amount of the credit will be refunded to the taxpayer without interest. For tax year 2008, the maximum credit allowed for both renters and homeowners is $930. To be eligible for the credit for the 2008 tax year; the taxpayer or spouse, if married filing jointly, must be 65 years of age or older at the close of the 2008 tax year; the taxpayer must own or rent residential property in Massachusetts and occupy the property as his or her principal residence; the taxpayer’s “total income” cannot exceed $49,000 for a single filer who is not the head of a household, $62,000 for a head of house hold, or $74,000 for taxpayers filing jointly; and for homeowners, the assessed valuation as of January 1, 2008, before residential exemptions but after abatements, of the homeowner’s personal residence cannot exceed $793,000. Inheritance and Estate Taxes
There is an inheritance tax in which all real and personal property in which the decedent owned or has an interest is taxed. This information does not even take into consideration the fact that the cost of living is 42.5% higher in Boston than it is in Nashville, and I’m being paid about the same as I would in TN for doing the same type of work. And, don’t even get me started on the parking rates and toll roads.
On top of that, there is about three times the amount of red tape to get anything done here when it comes to government services. I’m not sure where all of the tax revenue is going, but it’s definitely not being applied to providing more effective and efficient social services.
Long story short… In this economy, every dollar counts, so if you’re a TN resident; consider yourself blessed that you get to keep many of those dollars in your pocket when others don’t.
I actually wrote my last entry to remind myself to do a better job of researching an area before making such a substantial move next time. Long Live La Vergne…

2nd Annual Chili Night in November
on the 13th at 6:00pm
The evening will begin in the cafeteria where you will feast on a Chili Supper with all the fixins. Then after we have filled our bellies we will move over to the Auditorium to enjoy a fabulous Vocal program by the Choral members.
This will be a night for all to come out and bring all your family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, etc. Tickets are being pre-sold right now by the students for $5 per person or $20 per family up to 6 people. This is our preferred method for you to purchase your tickets so that we may plan the evening for the correct amount of guests. Those who purchase a ticket in advance will be placed on our “Reservations” list and will have priority seating for both the dinner & the program. But if you are not able to get a pre-sale ticket you may also pay at the door. Contact Tonya Knell 308-8031 for tickets and if you know a Choralier, mention their name and they will get the credit for the ticket sale.
We would also like you to know that the money raised from this event will greatly benefit the students in many ways. I Live in the City of La Vergne, TN. I was recently cited for “Failure to sign Vehicle Registration”, and after some investigation, the law states that I do NOT have to sign it if it is on my person or in my vehicle. (According to the Tennessee Motor Vehicle Laws Annotated 2008 Edition) (55-4-108.)
My case was dismissed and the officer was informed of the changed law by the Judge on Jan 27th 2010. It has been almost 2 months though, and I wonder how many others actually paid the fine for this bogus law. If there are quite a few, could this be grounds for a class action suit against the city? Anyone else sited for failure to sign their Vehicle Registration?
That’s bizarre . . . I’ve lived here for 21 years and NEVER signed my registration. I guess I just didn’t notice it needed to be signed. I’ve been stopped several times over the years (okay, I’ll admit to being a lead-foot), and never had a cop say anything about it being unsigned either.

michaelinLV, I’m not sure if this is going to post in the right order or not. The site doesn’t give me the option to reply to your reply. Anyway, the students didn’t pull anything major – just showed their usual disrespect for authority. A group was told to get to class and quit loitering (no response from students); another was told to remove a ballcap and pull up his sagging pants (student said “no” and walked off). The tour also stopped in to observe a class where nothing was going on (I guess because it was the day before spring break?). Kids were using their ipods, openly texting, goofing off, etc. and the teacher was reading a magazine. I’m sure this didn’t make a good impression, and this was a dang AP class!
The students have zero respect for Mr. Daniels, especially now that he’s out the door, and the new principal is going to have his hands full. Bringing in a whole new crop of assistant principals as well isn’t going to make things any easier.

This article really frosts my butt because the headline is “LaVergne clinic employees…” it didn’t look like a single person was from LaVergne and yet WE get the headline. And you’re right… what clinic?? Is there a clinic named LaVergne Clinic?
It’s very clear that the headline is written to portray that it’s a LaVergne crime, and I think that’s grossly unfair … I’d be curious to know why the headline didn’t state “Hillsboro woman accused of TennCare prescription fraud”

We are still looking for our male buff color cocker spaniel, Bucky. Escaped from house @ 9/18. Was wearing blue nylon color, rabies tag and tag with phone number 793-6646. Sadly missed and loved! Afraid of rain, storms, lightning and is seizure dog. Any information would be appreciated! Woodland Hills Subdivision off of Waldron Road, Highland Hills Drive. We think someone in the neighborhood has him or knows of his whereabouts as he has escaped us in the past and was always returned.
I just stumbled across this. We also live in Woodland Hills and our black lab is quite the escape artist, but my wonderful neighbors always make sure he gets home.

I’ve probably been living under a rock since I broke my hip last month, but last week as I was traveling down M’boro Road, I noticed that Smith’s Grocery was empty and then the other day the sign said “Store Closed”. Could they no longer keep up with the ‘big boys” or did something else happen to cause this?

Not sure where to put this so I will stick it here, this morning (SATURDAY) Feb. 5th I stopped at the Tiger Mart on Fergus and there was an older lady with a flat tire, her and one of the girls the work at Tiger Mart was trying to get the jack and spare and tire tool out and you know how cars are these days so I went to help but I was in a huge hurry to pick up my son that I have not seen all week and get to the gym for a ball game, but I did manage to get things started, after running in the store for a sec. I decided that I felt really bad so I called the Lavergne Police Dept. The dispatcher (a female) took down my info and I told her what was going on, when I came back a couple hrs. later I stopped and asked if they came and helped. THEY DID!! so, just wanted to say KUDOS to the LPD and I think the girl told me officer DAVID?? I hope that’s correct came straight out and helped this lady. SO! Again, LPD and David THANKS for helping her. It made me feel alot better.
The LHS Concert Choir and Choraliers will host the
2nd Annual Spaghetti & Song
on the 18th at 6:00pm
The evening will begin in the cafeteria where you will feast on a Spaghetti Supper with all the fixins. Then after we have filled our bellies we will move over to the Auditorium to enjoy a fabulous Vocal program by the Choral members.
Parents….This will be a night for all to come out and bring all your family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, etc. Tickets are being pre-sold right now by the students for $5 per person or $20 per family up to 6 people. This is our preferred method for you to purchase your tickets so that we may plan the evening for the correct amount of guests. Those who purchase a ticket in advance will be placed on our “Reservations” list and will have priority seating for both the dinner & the program. But if you are not able to get a pre-sale ticket you may also pay at the door.
We would also like you to know that the money raised from this event will greatly benefit your student in many ways. If your student is a Choralier, this will help in covering the cost to rent their uniforms for the Winter & Spring Concerts and this will help in raising the funds for their trip to St Louis in April. If your student is a Concert Choir member, this will help in covering the cost to rent their dresses for the Winter & Spring Concerts and help in raising funds for the trip to Dollywood in May.
So please, buy your tickets and come out and support YOUR Choir Department.
